Golden Heart Hollow Sphere

This seven inch (7") naturally hollow sphere was made from a sour wood.  The tree it came from was damaged by an ice storm in 2001 and the tree finally died in 2004.  In June of 2006 I finally cut it down and was amazed at the natural hollow center.  After turning a sphere from this piece of that tree I thought the hollow center was a wonderful opportunity for some highlights.  So I applied a gold leafing type material to the inside of the hollow area.  Everyone who has seen it just loves the gold center and so will you.

A stand is not provided with this sphere.  If you have specific requirements for a stand we can create one to your specifications.  Just ask us about making your special stand.

The gold center sphere is finished on the outside with a combination of tung oil and urethane for a beautiful and lasting gloss finish.  The inside is sprayed with shellac to protect the gold leaf type material.  The sphere is approximately seven inches (7") in diameter and the hole in the center is approximately 2.5" in diameter.
