Sculpted Bowl

This unique, sculpted bowl is made from osage orange.  This wood typically comes from the southwestern United States where it is often used in outdoor applications because of its extreme resistance to decay.  The initial yellowish orange color will most likely change to a rich brown as the piece ages.

This bowl is finished with Arm-R-Seal, a finish made from a combination of oil and urethane.  The oil brings out the color and figure of the wood while the urethane forms a tough layer that resists wear over time.  While most finishes are considered food safe  after they have cured, we recommend that this piece only be used for non-food items or perhaps for wrapped food items such as wrapped candy or unshelled nuts.  Care and cleaning involves simply an occasional dusting or wiping with a damp cloth.
